Field Notes
A running archive of small observations from the ground: seasonal shifts, ecological signals, animal behavior, maintenance rhythms, and the moments where material reality quietly corrects official description.
The field is greening unevenly. Low ground is ahead of the ridge by nearly a week, which means every conversation about timing is already a conversation about microclimate rather than schedule.
The most revealing work is often maintenance that leaves little record: fence checks, gate repair, drainage clearing, feed adjustments, the daily calibrations by which people keep systems from becoming incidents.
Weather language stays generic long after land conditions stop being generic. Forecasts describe regions; decisions happen in specific fields, along specific lines, with specific risks.
Function
These notes are not decorative. They are part of the site’s evidence base: a way of keeping attention trained on what systems ask of bodies, land, and time before those demands are translated into theory.
